Samuel Saunders (1857–1943) was a New Zealand journalist and newspaper editor. [1] [2]
Saunders was born in Nelson, New Zealand in 1857 to Rhoda Saunders (née Flower) and Alfred Saunders. [1] His uncle was William Saunders and his sister was Sarah Page. [2] [3] In 1880 he married Helen Johnston who was a granddaughter of William Cargill. [4] [2] [5]
He was editor of the Lyttelton Times from 1891 to 1914. [4]
Saunders died in Eastbourne, New Zealand in 1943, aged 86. [5] [4]
