Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama of EK Sunnis [Note 1] also known as Samastha and EK Samastha [3] [4] is a Sunni- Shafi'i Muslim scholarly body in Kerala. [5] [6] [7] The council administers Shafi'ite mosques, institutes of higher religious learning (the equivalent of north Indian madrasas) and madrasas (institutions where children receive basic Islamic education) in India. [5]

A forty-member 'mushawara' is the high command body of the Sunni council. [8] [9] As of 2020, the president was Sayed Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal. [10] [11]
