Salcea is a town in Suceava County, in the Western Moldavia region of northerneastern Romania, with a population of 9,513. It administers four villages: Mereni, Plopeni, Prelipca, and Văratec. Salcea was declared a town in 2004.

The town is located at about 11 km (6.8 mi) east of Suceava and it is best known for the Suceava Airport located nearby.

Demographics

According to the results of the 2021 census (postponed to 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic in Romania), the commune is currently inhabited by 9,513 people.
