Saint-Yves (9 November 1808 [1] – 23 July 1871 [2]) was the pen name of Édouard DĂ©addĂ©, a 19th-century French playwright.

Short biography

He was born Ernest-Antoine-Edmond-Édouard DĂ©addĂ© in Paris. An employee at the Interior ministry, he became known as vaudevilliste under the pen name Saint-Yves and published numerous articles in the Revue et gazette musicale under the pseudonym D.A.D.

His numerous plays were presented on the most important Parisian stages of his time, including the Théùtre du Panthéon, the Théùtre des Variétés, the Théùtre du Palais-Royal, the Théùtre de l'Ambigu, the Théùtre des Folies-Dramatiques, and the Théùtre de la Gaßté. Several collaborative projects were discussed with Honoré de Balzac but none were realized. [3]

He was the managing director of the Théùtre de la Porte-Saint-Antoine from 31 December 1839 to January 1841. [4]
