Ronald Szymusiak is a professor at UCLA, where he researches sleep and Alzheimer's disease. Szymusiak is the editor-in-chief of SLEEP sleep medicine journal. [1]

Szymusiak obtained his Ph.D. in biological psychology from the University of Illinois in 1982 and did his postdoctoral training in neurobiology. [2] In the years 2017-2018 [3] and 2021-2023, [4] [5] he received a Veterans Affairs Research Career Scientist Award. [6] [7] He is a professor at the school of medicine at UCLA. [8] He has worked on sleep disorders and contributed to the understanding of the REMNon-REM Sleep Cycle, hypothalamic control of sleep homeostasis, [9] sleep suppression, and the impact of various factors, such as corticotropin-releasing factor, on sleep.
