The Ronald Reagan Monument [a] is a statue located in Warsaw, Poland, at Ujazdów Avenue, near the corner with Jana Matejki Street, dedicated to Ronald Reagan, the President of the United States from 1981 to 1989. It was designed by sculptor Władysław Dudek, and unvailed on 21 November 2011.

History

The monument was proposed by Janusz Dorosiewicz, the chairperson of the Ronald Reagan Foundation, and was designed by sculptor Władysław Dudek. [1] [2] [3]

While the construction of the monument was not consulted with the city authorities of Warsaw, its location near the embassy of the United States was approved by the city council. It was unveiled on 21 November 2011, by Lech Wałęsa, who was the President of Poland from 1990 to 1995. [2] [3]

The monument is located in the city of Warsaw, Poland, at Ujazdów Avenue, near the corner with Jana Matejki Street. It is placed near the embassy of the United States. [2] [3]

The monument consists of a statue depicting Ronald Reagan, the President of the United States from 1981 to 1989, standing behind the posium stand. It has the seal of the president of the United States on top, and the inscitiption consisting of capital letters spelling "Ronald Reagan" at the bottom. The president was depicted as when giving the “ Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall,” speech on 12 June 1987 in West Berlin. [4] [5]
