Riku Matsuda (松田 陸, Matsuda, Riku, born July 24, 1991) is a Japanese footballer who plays as a right back for Gamba Osaka.
During his time in high school, he was converted from forward to a defending role. [1]
After four years attending the Biwako Seikei Sport College and becoming the side-captain, [2] Matsuda signed for FC Tokyo in 2014. [3] In 2013, he was registered from the club as Special Designated Player. [4]
He decided to leave FC Tokyo after the 2015 season. [5] In January 2016, Matsuda signed with his hometown-club, Cerezo Osaka. [6]
On August 16 2023, Matsuda signs on loan with J2 League club, Ventforet Kofu of Yamanashi, until the end of 2023 season. [7]
His father is Indonesian and his mother is Japanese. His twin brother Riki is also a soccer player, and is a forward of Ehime FC in J3 League.
