Rene Gube ( /ˈɡb/ GOO-bay [1]) (born December 15, 1979) [2] is an American-born Filipino comedian, actor and writer. [3] He played Threepeat on the TBS sitcom Ground Floor, executive story editor and a writer for the CW series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend where he also had a recurring role as "Father Brah", and co-executive producer, writer and actor of a recurring role as "Ever GM" for FX's The Bear, which he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series for the latter.

Early life

Gube was born in Waukegan, Illinois, but raised in San Diego, California. [3] He is of Filipino ethnicity; his immigration parents are born from their respective Philippine countries Batangas and Pampanga. [2]

He has a taste of comedy while at Mount Carmel High School where he joined a speech and debate club, which makes him a comedian. [4]

Career

Prior to his career as a comedian, Gube used to be a high school teacher. [4] When in Los Angeles, Gube formed a comedy sketch group, Touchblue, with his friends. Their sketches got quite popular which allowed him to perform on various stages throughout California. [5]

Gube frequently performs with the Upright Citizens Brigade, where he studied. [4] He served as supervising producer and writer for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, in which he also recurred as laid-back Catholic priest Father Brah.

Personal life

On October 16, 2014, Gube became engaged to his Ground Floor co-star Briga Heelan. [6] They were married on May 8, 2015. [7] [8] Their daughter Bennet Alejandra Gube was born on March 23, 2017. [9]
