Pratyoosh Shukla [1] (born April 2, 1977, Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh) is an Indian Microbiologist specialized in Enzyme technology and Protein Bioinformatics. He is presently working as Professor and Coordinator of the School of Biotechnology at the Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. He was awarded with Indo-USA Research Professor at Department of Environmental Health, College of Medicine, University of Cincinnati, USA in the year 2014 by American Society of Microbiology (ASM) and Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF). [2] He is Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (FNAAS), [3] Fellow of Academy of Microbiological Sciences (FAMSc/FAMI), [4] Fellow of Biotech Research Society of India (FBRS). [5]
Pratyoosh Shukla and his research group is working since last two decades for integration of tools and techniques in microbe assisted biotechnological process for environmental sustainability, bio products including bio-energy, cost effective bioprocesses [6], [7],. [8] His contributions in Microbial Biotechnology are also being recognized by the academic bodies and scientific societies in the country9. [9] Recently, his name was also featured in world 2% scientists by the Stanford University, USA. [10] He has over 23 years of strong and longstanding experience in administration, teaching and research experience in reputed [11] universities of India and abroad.
Upon completing his bachelor's degree (B.Sc.), he went on to complete his master's degree in Sciences (Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology) from Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar M.P India in 1999. In 2002, he earned his Ph.D. in microbiology from the APS University, Rewa, India. He has received NRF-DUT Post Doctoral Fellowship at Enzyme Technology Group, Durban University of Technology, Durban. Recently he has been awarded with D.Sc. in Microbiology in the year 2020 from Barkatullah University, formerly known as Bhopal University, Bhopal, India for his significant contribution in the area of 'computational enzyme engineering'.
His research group is working since last two decades for integration of techniques in microbe assisted biotechnological processes [12], [13], [14], [15], [16],. [17] His contributions in microbial bioprocesses optimization using the artificial intelligence (AI) based tools especially on microbial enzymes and cyanobacterial bio-pigments are getting attention of scientific community [8],. [18] In addition, he also works on wide facets of cyanobacterial biotechnology for their various applications [19], [20],. [21]
