It is native to Southeast Asia ( Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam) and introduced to Africa ( Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda). It produces drooping racemes of fragile yellow flowers that bloom in Thailand in early March.
