Nordøyan is an archipelago and fishing village in Nærøysund, Trøndelag, Norway.

History

In 1893, a pier was constructed. [1]

On 21 October 1962, the MS Sanct Svithun [ no] ran aground at Nordøyan lighthouse and 41 people died, in an event known as the Sinking of the Sanct Svithun [ no]. [2]

Geography

The village consists of three large islets Heimværet, Oddholmen, Surnøya and several smaller islets. [3]

Nordøyan Lighthouse is located in the village. [4] The lighthouse is located on Surnøya. [5]
