Nikki Bradley (born 21 January 1986 [1]) is an Irish disability rights advocate, motivational speaker, and senator for Fine Gael. [2] [3] [4]

Disability work

From Milford, County Donegal, Bradley was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma in 2002 and has used crutches since 2013 following two hip replacements. [3] [5] [6] From 2013 she began undertaking a variety of physical-fitness challenges — such as climbing four peaks ( Carrauntoohil, Croagh Patrick, Slieve Donard and Errigal) in 32 hours [7] — documented online as part of her "Fighting Fit for Ewing's" awareness campaign. [5] [8] She has also worked with other disability organisations. [2] In 2022, she had a partial leg amputation and rotationplasty. [9]

Political career

On 10 July 2024, Bradley was nominated to the 26th Seanad by the Taoiseach, Simon Harris, to fill the vacancy caused by the election of Regina Doherty to the European Parliament. [3] Her statement accepting the nomination said that, as well as disability issues, she planned to speak on the defective block crisis and voter turnout among young voters. [10] On 11 July she was formally introduced to the Seanad and made her maiden speech. [11] Media expect her to stand for Fine Gael in the Donegal constituency in the next Irish general election.
