Nicolás Fonseca (born 19 October 1998) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Argentine Primera División club River Plate and the Uruguay national team. [1]
Before the second half of 2021–22, Fonseca signed for Uruguayan side River Plate (Montevideo). [2] In the first week of 2024, he signed for River Plate of Argentina. [3]
Fonseca received his first call-up to the Uruguay national team in March 2024 for friendlies against Basque Country and Ivory Coast. [4] He made his debut on 23 March in a 1–1 draw against Basque Country. [5]
Nicolás is the son of former Uruguay international Daniel Fonseca. [6] His brother Matías is also a footballer. [7]
