Nelson Filipe dos Santos Simões Oliveira [5] (born 6 March 1989) is a Portuguese professional road racing cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Movistar Team. [6]
In September 2009, Anadia-born Oliveira won the silver medal in the under-23 time trial at the UCI Road World Championships. [7] In November 2009, Oliveira signed with Xacobeo–Galicia.
In September 2010, he went again to the UCI Road World Championships, and was 4th in the under-23 time trial, not repeating a podium by just 4 seconds. [8] In 2011 he won the Portuguese National Time Trial Championships and finished 17th in the UCI World Time Trial Championships. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed in the men's road race and the men's individual time trial. [9]
Oliveira left RadioShack–Leopard at the end of the 2013 season, and joined Lampre–Merida for the 2014 season. [10] In 2014, he won the Portuguese National Time Trial Championships again. He also won the Portuguese National Road Race Championships several days later. In September 2015 it was reported that Oliveira would leave Lampre–Merida and join Movistar Team for 2016. [11] At the 2016 Summer Olympics, he competed in the road race and the men's individual time trial. [9]
