Mya-Rose Craig (born 2002), also self-marketed as Birdgirl, is a British [1] [2] birdwatcher, [3] [4] and author.
She has an honorary doctorate in science from the University of Bristol. [5] In June 2022, she published the UK edition of her autobiography, Birdgirl, which was published in the US in March 2023.
Craig went to Chew Valley School. [6] She created the charity Black2Nature to run nature camps for black and minority ethnic children with her sister as a paid staff member and her mother as a trustee. [1] [2]
Craig was a "Bristol 2015 Ambassador" during the city's year as European Green Capital. [7]
She is a bird ringer [8] and won the National Biodiversity Network's 2018 Gilbert White Youth Award for recording terrestrial and freshwater wildlife. [9] She contributed to Chris Packham's A People’s Manifesto for Wildlife. [10]
