The Monumento a Andrés Sánchez Magallanes, colloquially known as La Chichona ( lit. transl. The Busty Woman), [1] is a memorial in Villahermosa, Tabasco. It was dedicated to Colonel Andrés Sánchez Magallanes , who commanded key battles for the expulsion of the French from Villahermosa during the Second French intervention in Mexico. [2]
The monument was ordered by Manuel Rafael Mora Martínez , governor of Tabasco between 1965 and 1970. The project was completed between 1967 and 1969. The author was José Luis Silva who selected quarry stone. It had a cost of one million pesos. In 1997, a distributor road was built that partially obstructs the view of the monument at ground level. [3] The monument's nickname is attributed to one of the sculptures featuring a seated woman with a bare torso and large breasts. [1]
