Matthew Broome (born c. 2000/2001) is a British actor. He is known for his role in the Apple TV+ period drama The Buccaneers (2023–).
Broome attended Caroline Chisholm School. [1] He joined the Northampton Musical Theatre Company's (NMTC) Youth Society and the National Youth Theatre. He went on graduate from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Acting. [2]
In his third and final year at Guildhall, Broome signed with United Agents [3] and made his professional stage debut as Jack Virtue in Scandaltown at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith. [4] The following year, after graduating, he featured in the Shakespeare's Globe productions of The Comedy of Errors [5] as Antipholus of Ephesus and Twelfth Night as Sebastian. [6] For his performance in the former, Broome received praise alongside Michael Elcock, who played Antipholus of Syracuse. [7] [8]
Broome made his television debut when he was cast as Guy Thwarte in the 2023 Apple TV+ period drama The Buccaneers, based on Edith Wharton's novel of the same title. [9] [10] Broome had not yet finished drama school when he first auditioned for the series. [11]
He has an upcoming role opposite Asha Banks in the Amazon Prime film My Fault: London, an English-language version of Culpa mía. [12] [13]
