Malar ( transl. Flower) is an 2023 Indian Tamil-language television series, starring Preethi Sharma, [2] and Surendhar in the lead roles. It premiered on 27 February 2023, airing on Sun TV from Monday to Saturday. It is also available on the digital platform Sun NXT. [3] [4]
The story of a two sisters Malar and Parvathy, but not siblings by birth, Parvathi means the world to her warm-hearted sister Malar.
Preethi Sharma [5] [6] [7] was cast in the female lead role as Malar. [8] This marks Preethi Sharma's return to Tamil television after a small hiatus. Agni plays the male lead alongside her. [9] In beginning January 2024, VJ Agni quit the show citing an injury. [10] Actor Surendar was replacing his role as Vikram. [11]
Actress Nivisha was cast Malar's elder sister as Parvathi, [12] but was replaced by Sunitha Srinivasan in September 2023. [13] Niharika Harshu was cast as Arjun's Mother. Varun Udhay was cast as Parvathi's husband.
The first promo was released on 15 February 2023 featuring Preethi Sharma, Nivisha and Srilekha Rajendran. [14] The second promo was unveiled on 20 February 2023, featuring protagonist Preethi Sharma and Niharika Harshu and revealing the release date. [15]
The show started airing on Sun TV on 27 February 2023 replacing Abhiyum Naanum Time slot. [16]
