Madison Thompson was born and raised in Waterloo, Ontario. [3] [2]
Thompson was a student-athlete at Kent State University where she won 4 Mid-American Conference Regular Season titles, 3 Mid-American Conference Tournament titles and 3 NCAA appearances. She was named Mid-American Tournament Most Valuable Player in 2016. [4]
Thompson made her debut for the Canada Indoor team in 2013 in a test series against the United States in Feasterville. [5]
During her indoor career, Thompson has won gold and silver medals at the 2014 and 2021 editions of the Indoor Pan American Cup, respectively. [6] [7]
Following years in the indoor program, Thompson made her senior international debut in 2021 during a test series against the United States in Chula Vista. [5]
In 2022 she represented the Canada at the Pan American Cup in Santiago, where she won a bronze medal that helped Canada qualify for the FIH Women's World Cup for the first time since 1994. She was a member of both the 2022 FIH World Cup and 2022 Commonwealth Games. [8]
