Lubań [ˈlubaɲ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Nowa Karczma, within Kościerzyna County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. [1] It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) south-west of Nowa Karczma, 12 km (7 mi) east of Kościerzyna, and 42 km (26 mi) south-west of the regional capital Gdańsk. It is located within the historic region of Pomerania.
During the German occupation of Poland ( World War II), Lubań was one of the sites of executions of Poles, carried out by the Germans in 1939 as part of the Intelligenzaktion. [2] In 1939, the Germans also carried out expulsions of Poles. [3] Local Polish teachers were murdered in the Dachau concentration camp. [4]
