Louis Morneau is an American film director and scenarist.
Morneau has been described as a "graduate of the Roger Corman school". [1]
He is the director of various B/ cult films, [2] [3] [4] including what Dread Central calls ’the notoriously terrible’ [5] Bats, in 1999, a film, however, praised by Mark F. Berry in his book about dinosaur films, in which this author considers that Bats is a ’handsome and misunderstood fifties-monster homage’’, explaining Morneau's personal style by his former career as film editor. [6] The B movie French site Nanarland sees in him a "yes man", who "is not inherently bad, but (who) will quickly specialize in broke direct-to-video ( Bats, Hitcher II).". [7] Morneau is also known for being "the man behind horror sequels Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead, The Hitcher: I've Been Waiting, Carnosaur 2". [8]
After Carnosaur 2 in 1995, [9] he directed Retroactive, and Made Men the year after, both starring Jim Belushi, the latter also starring Timothy Dalton. [10]
Morneau was the long-time partner of the actress Catherine Cyran. [11]
