Kynaston was born in
Shrewsbury and grew up in Weston Rhyn, Shropshire, the youngest of four boys. His mother is a school nurse and cellist,[5] and his brothers are all musicians.[6] He joined the National Youth Theatre of Wales.[7] He attended
Llanfyllin High School.[8] He co-founded the Lonely Tree Theatre Group.[9] He moved to London when he was nineteen.[2] He is part of the LGBTQ+ community. [10]
