Kyrinsky District ( Russian: Кыринский райо́н) is an administrative [1] and municipal [5] district ( raion), one of the thirty-one in Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia. It is located in the southwest of the krai, and borders with Ulyotovsky District in the north. The area of the district is 16,200 square kilometers (6,300 sq mi). [2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Kyra. [1] Population: 13,650 ( 2010 Russian census); [3] 16,016 ( 2002 Census); [8] 19,593 ( 1989 Soviet census). [9] The population of Kyra accounts for 33.4% of the district's total population. [3]
The Khentei-Daur Highlands are located in the eastern part of the district. [10]
