Kohanabad ( Persian: کهن آباد) [a] is a city in, and the capital of, Kohanabad District of Aradan County, Semnan province, Iran. [4] It also serves as the administrative center for Kohanabad Rural District. [5]
At the 2006 census, its population was 1,630 in 457 households, when it was a village in Kohanabad Rural District of the former Aradan District of Garmsar County. [6] The following census in 2011 counted 1,509 people in 473 households. [7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,192 people in 450 households, [2] by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Aradan County, and the village of Kohanabad elevated to the status of a city. [4]
