The station is served by the JR Shikoku Dosan Line and is located 95.5 km from the beginning of the line at Tadotsu. [3] [4]
The station, which is unstaffed, consists of a side platform serving a single track. There is a shelter on the platform and another small building behind the platform which serves as a waiting room. [2]

The station opened on 21 June 1930 as the terminus of the then Kōchi Line which had been extended northwards from Tosa-Yamada. At this time the station was operated by Japanese Government Railways, later becoming Japanese National Railways (JNR). With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, control of the station passed to JR Shikoku. [3] [5]
