James Monroe Smith (October 9, 1888 – June 6, 1949) was an American educator and academic administrator in Louisiana. [1]
In 1931, he was appointed president of Louisiana State University by Huey Long.
Smith was referred to as "Jimmy the Stooge" by students of the university. [2]
