Iván Ania Cadavieco (born 24 October 1977 in Oviedo, Asturias) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played mainly as a left winger, currently manager of Córdoba CF.
Born in Oviedo, Asturias, Ania was a youth product of hometown side Real Oviedo. After making his senior debut with the reserves, he made his first team – and La Liga – debut on 11 June 1995, coming on as a late substitute for goalscorer Oli in a 1–0 home win over Sporting de Gijón.
Ania scored his first professional goal on 8 November 1995, netting the equalizer in a 4–1 home routing of CA Osasuna, for the season's Copa del Rey. He was definitely promoted to the main squad ahead of the 1997–98 campaign, but was mainly a backup option during his spell.
On 18 September 2001, after Oviedo's relegation, Ania signed a four-year contract with CD Tenerife in the top tier, for a fee of 400 million pesetas. [1] He suffered relegation in his first year, and spent the first half of the 2003–04 season without playing before moving to Rayo Vallecano on loan on 31 December 2003. [2]
On 30 June 2005, after a one-year spell at Gimnàstic de Tarragona also in division two, Ania joined Cádiz CF in the top tier, [3] but featured rarely as the club suffered relegation. He moved to Lorca Deportiva CF in 2006, also dropping down a level and only having five league starts before departing.
In October 2008, after more than a year without a club, Ania signed for Tercera División side CD Covadonga. [4] He returned to his first club Oviedo the following 28 June, with the side now in Segunda División B, [5] and retired in 2010, aged 32.
After retiring, Ania played in the Liga de Fútbol Indoor with Oviedo before being appointed manager of Covadonga on 8 December 2011. [6] He left the side on 21 June 2013, [7] and returned to Oviedo on 18 November after being named at the helm of the B-team. [8]
On 11 June 2015, Ania took over Caudal Deportivo, [9] and led the club to a promotion to the third division in his first year. He left the club on 21 May 2017, [10] before being named CF Villanovense manager on 25 June. [11]
On 17 May 2018, after narrowly missing out a play-off spot, Ania left Villanovense [12] and was appointed manager of Racing de Santander in the same category. [13] He led the club to a promotion to the second division at the end of the season, but was sacked on 11 November 2019. [14]
On 21 June 2021, after more than a year without a club, Ania was appointed manager of Algeciras CF in Primera División RFEF, after signing a four-year contract. [15] He departed the club on 27 June 2023, [16] and took over Córdoba CF in the following day. [17]
