In Greek mythology, Ismene ( /ɪsˈmn/; Ancient Greek: Ἰσμήνη, Ismēnē) was the naiad daughter of the river-god Asopus by the nymph Metope, daughter of the river Ladon. [1] She was the sister of Aegina, [2] Salamis, [3] Pelagon ( Pelasgus [4]) and Ismenus. [5] Ismene was the wife of Argus, eponymous king of Argos and thus, mother of Argus Panoptes and Iasus. [1]
