Island ( Korean: 아일랜드) is a 2022–2023 South Korean television series starring Kim Nam-gil, Lee Da-hee, Cha Eun-woo, and Sung Joon. The Part 1 of the series aired on TVING from December 30, 2022, to January 13, 2023, [7] and later aired on tvN from February 10 to 25, 2023, every Friday and Saturday at 22:10 ( KST). [8] The Part 2 of the series aired from February 24 to March 10, 2023. [9] It is also available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video in selected regions. [10]
The first episode of Island was screened at the Rendez-vous (non-competition section) of the 2023 Cannes International Series Festival on April 19, 2023. [11] [12]
Based on the graphic novel, which later published as a webtoon series on Naver Webtoon, the series was set on Jeju Island where three people are fighting against the evil that's trying to destroy the world.
The filming was scheduled to start in October 2021. [1]
On December 20, 2021, it was reported that actress Lee Da-hee was injured while filming. [27] Later in the day, the actress's agency confirmed that she suffered a neck injury. [28]
On May 24, 2022, actor Cha Eun-woo posted a photo on SNS saying that his part had finished filming. [29]
The series was originally made available for streaming through TVING and Amazon Prime Video. [30] On February 10, 2023, Part 1 was premiered on tvN. [8] The Part 2 was available to stream on TVING from February 24. [9]
