Isfahan City Waste Management Organization was formed in 2003 under the affiliation of municipal services. [1] The organization under the responsibility of the Urban Services of Isfahan Municipality implements the integrated waste management system. [2]
The number of employees of this organization is 140 people . In the Isfahan waste factory, which receives about 950 tons of waste daily, 12% of Isfahan's produced waste is recycled. The organic fertilizer factory in Iran was put into operation in Isfahan in 1347 by a company from Switzerland, and after that in 1368, the current factory was built in the east of Isfahan in the area of "Zinel Neck" on a land of about 100 hectares. [3]
On normal days, Isfahan garbage is collected every two days.
Isfahan city produces 15 tons of hospital waste daily.
About 4,000 tons of construction waste are handled by the organization every day.The task of collecting the soil and stray debris is the responsibility of the contractors. [4]
Per capita waste of one person in Isfahan city is about 67 grams per day.
There are seventy recycling booths and stations in the city. [5] [6]
Garbage is divided into two main categories: organic waste and inorganic waste after processing steps such as bag opener, rotating conveyor, magnet and manual separation of recyclable items.
The city of Isfahan had planned to reduce the amount of landfill and buried waste by 2020. [7]
