The origins of Impresa goes back to 1972. [1] In 1991 the company established a holding company, the Balsemão group. [1] Next year it started the first private television channel, SIC, in Portugal. [1]
In 2011 the company established Media Rumo SA in Angola. [2]
In 2018 Portuguese company Trust in News (TIN) acquired the magazines owned by Impresa, except Expresso and Blitz. [3]
