Idris bin Ibrahim NIkale I was king of the Kanem–Bornu Empire beginning in 1342 following the death of his nephew, Mohammed I. A grandson of Bir II, he established peaceful relationship with the Sao after the four previous Kanem kings had been killed in battle. He ruled until his death in 1366, when he was succeeded by his brother, Dawud. [1]
