Horrid Henry is the main fictional character in a popular series of children's books by Francesca Simon published by Orion Children's Books.
Horrid Henry is a fictional character created by Francesca Simon and illustrated by Tony Ross. The first Horrid Henry book was published in 1994 and by the end of 2007, there will have been sixteen titles published, as well as numerous collections, activity books and joke books. The Horrid Henry stories are read on audiobook by the actress Miranda Richardson, and published by Orion Audio. The combined sales of all the Horrid Henry books and audiobooks now stands at over ten million copies. Horrid Henry is published in twenty five languages around the world. In February 2008, an exhibition, "Up to Mischief with Horrid Henry", will open at the Seven Stories Centre for Children's Books. Horrid Henry is now also a hugely successful animated TV series. In May 2006 the CITV Channel announced that an animated TV series based on the Horrid Henry books had been commissioned from Novel Entertainment (see also Fimbles and The Roly Mo Show). The series is shown weekdays at 3.30 on the CITV Channel. The television series is the CITV channel's most successful programme and it is being launched on TV in Germany, France and Scandinavia in 2008.
Perfect Peter is Horrid Henry's younger brother. He's perfect in every way, he's desperate to be loved, to do the right thing and to obey the rules. He likes to show off to his parents how good he is (and how bad Horrid Henry is). Life for Peter is one constant battle with Henry, who always says to Peter "Out of my way worm!"

He hates vegetables and loves sweet, he also hates homework and school unlike Peter.
Mum is Henry and Peter's mother, she has never trusted Henry to be well behaved, is extremely healthy, and always makes something with vegetables for dinner. She does healthy snacks for parties too. According to Henry, she has told him millions of times that he can never have another party because he is always naughty, and then she always lets him have ONE more chance every year. She always believes Peter and is best known for accusing Henry after Peter has told on Henry.
Dad is the father of Henry and Peter, he always yells at Henry, but Dad never really yells at Peter, because hence his name, is nearly always perfect.
Great Aunt Greta is never seen, all that is known about her is that she confuses Henry for a 4-year old girl and Peter for a teenage boy called Pete. She always gives Henry gifts aimed at young girls and Peter gifts aimed at older boys.
Moody Margaret is the arch enemy of Horrid Henry. She's a girl version of Henry, lives next door to Henry and is a very loud screamer, and is the leader of the Secret Club. Margaret and Henry are always playing tricks on each other, but it is Henry that usually comes out on top. She is also VERY moody, as her name suggests. She may have a small crush on Henry, because when Peter wrote a fake note to her from Henry asking her to marry him, she was exhillerated.
The oldest and dimmest boy in Henry's class, he only ever says 'I dunno'.
Probably Henry's best friend who is always willing to assist Henry with his plans, he is also a member of the Purple Hand Gang. He has a tendency to be rude to people as his name suggests and is often seen hanging out with Henry, even though in some episodes they are enemies.
A girl in Henry's class known for her beauty.
An unpopular and extremely sensitive boy in Henry's class who is almost always seen crying and just about anything will make him burst into tears. He hates the colour 'red'. (As it's the color of blood.)
Sour Susan is Margret's minion and best friend, she always has a grumpy and sour face. Sour Susan is mostly a parrot on Margaret acting like a dummy, and mostly says 'Yeah, Henry,' after Margaret.
Miss Boudica Battle-Axe is Henry's teacher, out of all the children in her class, she hates Henry most. She once appeared with her mother in "Horrid Henry dines at Restaurant le Posh". Probably the strictest teacher in the school.
Peter's teacher who is of a gentle nature and is very proud of Peter's progress and behaviour and is always saying nice things about him to his parents.
The headmistress of the school and is somewhat kinder to Henry than Miss Battle-Axe, she is generally good-natured but can act strange at times, for example, she was the 'time capsule thief' who dug up time capsules from the school grounds at night.
Henry's post-teen cousin who is always in a jumpy and hyper mood and is usually seen smiling.
Steve is Henry's Stuck up Cousin. Henry calls him so "Stuck up" because of how rich and spoilt Steve is compared to Henry. As on the episode Horrid Henry's Haunted House, Henry scares Aunt Ruby and Steve away from their house and Henry keeps the house and everything in it to himself.
Fluffy is Peter's grey pet cat, who feuds with Henry's hamster, Fang (who makes dog noises). Fluffy is often shown in many episodes sitting by the window sill at night and as he clicks the remote control button next to him, the scene changes to sunrise.
Horrid Henry tries to be perfect for one day; he learns to dance, play's Pirates and makes Glop with his arch-enemy Moody Margaret and goes on holiday.
Horrid Henry gets an injection by Nurse Needle (or does he?). The Secret Club wages war against the Purple Hand Gang to see who is the best. Peter tries to be horrid and gets into trouble. It is Henry's parents' worst time of the year...Henry's birthday.
Horrid Henry is a page boy at Prissy Polly's wedding, the tooth fairy is in town...but Henry doesn't have a tooth for her, Henry breaks the meanest teacher in school and Margaret comes to stay (but for how long?)
Horrid Henry has nits and passes them on to the rest of the class, scares Peter and his friends, creates havoc on his school trip and wrecks his parents grown up party.
Henry runs away from home and bumps into Moody Margaret, cheats in sports day to win for the first time ever, sells Perfect Peter in a jumble sale, and finds a way to substitute Stuck up Steve's presents for his when Steve and Aunt Ruby stay for Christmas.
Horrid Henry goes to stay at Aunt Ruby's house, where his cousin Stuck-Up Steve tries to scare him by saying that there is a ghost in the room he is sleeping in. He also fights with Peter for the living-room chair, wins a prize at the school fair and goes on tv.
Horrid Henry fights with Peter over a gold gizmo, plays a trick on the kids at his swimming lesson, has a bad time with his spelling homework and tricks Peter into thinking that Egyptian mummies are real using a Mummy kit he has.
Horrid Henry gets revenge on Peter, encounters a dinner lady who takes treats off the class, visits his Dad's office and his boss' son, Bill. Then finds a way to get video games for the family's new computer, since he not allowed PC games, only educational games.
Horrid Henry encounters the babysitter from hell, traumatizes his parents on a car journey, goes trick or treating at Hallowe'en, and invades Moody Margaret's Secret Club.
Horrid Henry and Margaret steal each others' weapon idea when the traitors of each camp reveal it to them. He also gets Miss Battle-axe in trouble with the head, tries to win a reading competition for tickets to a theme park and goes for a sleepover at new Nick's house, but leaves in the middle of the night because it is horrible.
Horrid Henry makes a deal with his parents about him eating vegetables, receives girls underwear for a birthday present and finds himself wearing them, pretends to be sick on the same day as Peter (to get out of going to school) and finds a way to get money by writing no thank you letters.
Horrid Henry is forced to do his chores, attempts to hypnotise Moody Margaret, insists on having a bath by himself and ruins the day when the Queen comes to school.
Horrid Henry goes on a dreaded hike, stopping him from watching his favorite cartoon Rapper Zapper. He also tricks Peter into thinking that time machines are real in a truly fantastic plot, so Peter plots revenge against Henry and finally Henry goes to a posh French restaurant with Stuck-up-Steve and Rich Aunt Ruby for Mum's birthday.
Henry looks at Peter's diary, plays a game of football at school, goes shopping for new clothes (but he didn't like it) and meets Bossy Bill again.
Horrid Henry ruins the school play, fails to buy his family and friends presents (so he gives them second hand things instead) and ambushes Father Christmas at last and creates a disaster at his Christmas party.
Building a snowman brings gets Henry's competitive muscles twitching, he sets up his Marvellous Makeovers business to rival Moody Margaret's Magnificent Makeovers and to cap it all, things go badly wrong when a famous author visits his school.
