Hope Bourne ( Hartland, Devon, 1920 [1] – 22 August 2010 [2]) was a self-sufficient painter and writer [3] who lived alone in primitive cottages [4] and a caravan on Exmoor, [5] surviving by growing her own vegetables, fishing, and hunting for rabbits. [6]
Known as the Lady of Exmoor, [7] she wrote five books on Exmoor and one novel set in North Devon, was the subject of three TV documentaries [4] and contributed a weekly column to The West Somerset Free Press. [8] [9]
