The genus name is from the genus Hohenbergia and the Greek opsis (resembling) because it resembles the genus Hohenbergia. [2] It contains only one known species, Hohenbergiopsis guatemalensis, native to Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Guatemala. [1] [3]
