According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.8 square miles (23 km2), of which 7.8 square miles (20 km2) is land and 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2) (11.79%) is water.
In the second half of the 19th century, the village of Hahnville was established by Michael Hahn, 19th Governor of Louisiana, near his plantation in St. Charles Parish where he had been living since his retirement in 1872. [5] [6]
