Copyright

I have retagged this image as a magazine cover as there is no evidence that the copyright owner has released this image as was previously asserted. In addition, I cannot find the image on the page it is purportedly from. Finally, there is no Fair Use rationale for the image. Unless a Fair Use rationale is added within one week, this image will be deleted. Argos' Dad 15:45, 6 July 2007 (UTC) reply

You can find the image at www.forum.antepithesh.net. The adminstrators of the site have released the image and encouragaged anyone to download it so that they can spread their propaganda. There is no copyright status for this image, and this is because the owners have released their rights on it. Mitsos 10:36, 8 July 2007 (UTC) reply
I am afraid, I can't find it on that website, and in any event, I can't see where there is a release on the webpage. What you say makes logical sense, but that is not sufficient under U.S. copyright law. So, can you please link to the exact spot in the webpage where you found this image and provide information that substantiates the release of copyright. Argos' Dad 13:26, 8 July 2007 (UTC) reply
Would this image help you see another time when it appeared? It's taken from a nationalist Greek blog. The additional text on the image explains the similarities between the symbol then used by Golden Dawn & some weird mystical nazi splinter groups. Also, I have located it here. And also, here's another time this symbol was used, in a 1982 issue of Golden Dawn's magazine. It's part of this article in Greek, which documents the nazi roots of Golden Dawn. At any rate, I don't see any reasons why we should consider this picture should not be used in Wikipedia. It's posted strictly for people's information and education and the publication of the magazine was over 30 years ago. Also, Dear User:Argos'Dad, keep in mind that, in light of Golden Dawn's recent bravado-rich announcement, you'd be among their next targets (see your profile - you'll see why). In my view, the wise decision would be to keep the picture; and if you want, do get in touch with the bloggers of Jungle-Report for permission to use any image from their article, although I'm sure they wouldn't object at all. Furthermore, the inclusion of this picture here constitutes fair use, because it shows a badge used by far-right group Golden Dawn in its beginnings. This image has the following attributes:

  • Cover art
  • Image of iconic status and historical importance (it is important for people to know the roots of this particular group)
  • It was (perhaps still is) the logo/badge of a certain group and it's used here for identification — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moderatelyaverage ( talkcontribs) 15:09, 2 September 2012 (UTC) reply
