Fair use rationale

@ Marchjuly: I believe that fair use rationale is justified in this case for Franz Kurowski, as it significantly enhances the reader's understanding of the topic of "Landser-pulp" literature that the subject of the article produced. The subject has fashioned himself as a "historian", but it's much clearer from the image that this piece is strictly militaria literature aimed at those interested in details of uniforms, insignia, etc. K.e.coffman ( talk) 03:50, 22 April 2017 (UTC) reply

I'm not sure that seeing this image actually helps the typical reader understand that Kurowski's book mainly are "militaria literature" in a manner that removing the image would be detrimental to that understanding. You could simply add textual content about that to the article supported by a citation to a reliable source as explained in WP:FREER. What is it about this particular page in this particular book that reader really needs to see in order to understand that Kurowski was apparantly more of purveyor of militaria than or actual historical content. The source you cite in the image's caption seems to just be some general information about the book itself, and not specifically about this particular page or these particular images. From that source, you can't really verify the claims you're making in order to use this image unless you really rely heavily on WP:SYN to do so. Perhaps there's more detail on the particular page of the book being cited, but even so the reader does not need to see a inner page of images of sinking ships from the book to understand any of what the article content in Franz Kurowski#U-boat war; therfore, this type of use seems pretty decorative to me. -- Marchjuly ( talk) 00:55, 24 April 2017 (UTC) reply
