Description
English: Warsaw Uprising – „Ursus” factory in Warsaw’s district Wola set on fire by German troops. On 5th August 1944 ("Black Saturday") almost 6000 Polish civilians were murdered there by SS killing squads. This photo comes from so-called “Mensebach Album”. After the end of war this album was found and taken over by the Polish authorities. It is now in the archives of the Western Institiue (“Instytut Zachodni”) in Poznań.
Polski: Powyższe zdjęcie, wykonane podczas powstania warszawskiego, przedstawia płonącą fabrykę „Ursus” przy ul. Płockiej na warszawskiej Woli. W „czarną sobotę” 5 sierpnia 1944 r. Niemcy zamordowali na terenie fabryki blisko 6000 polskich cywilów. Zdjęcie pochodzi z tzw. albumu Mensebacha, przechowywanego obecnie w Instytucie Zachodnim w Poznaniu.
