Description
English: This is the Thorpe Power House, located on North Carolina Highway 107 in the Tuckaseigee River Gorge just above Tuckasegee, North Carolina. Constructed in 1940-41, the impressive structure combines elements of the Gothic Revival and Art Deco style, a rare combination in the area. The building remains in use as an active power station, powered by water falling from Lake Glenville high above.
