L'immagine rappresenta la storia leggendaria di Roberto, duca di Normandia. Ferito mortalmente da una freccia, fu salvato eroicamente dalla moglie che ne succhiò il veleno come era stato prescritto dai medici di Salerno.

Das Bild zeigt eine Legende um den normannischen Herzog Robert. Durch einen Pfeil tödlich verwundet wurde er heldenhaft durch seine Frau gerettet, die - wie von den Ärzten verordnet - das vergiftete Blut aus der Wunde saugte.
