Summary

Description Othem kyrka / Othem church, Gotland, Sweden. Paintings. This image shows the apostle Saint James the Great ("S. Jacobus") with his pilgrim's staff. The hat is typical, but he often wears his emblem, the scallop shell on the front brim of the hat or elsewhere on his clothes (it may have been lost because of the deterioration of the painting). The central part of the image shows one of the twelve consecration crosses painted in the church at the time of connsecration.
