Bahasa Indonesia: Kare-Kare merupakan bagian tradisi pemujaan terhadap Dewa Indra, dewa perang masyarakat adat Tenganan yang dikemas dalam bentuk adu ketangkasan dan adu keberanian layaknya orang yang sedang berperang. Inilah alasan tradisi ini juga sering dikenal sebagai tari perang. Dikatakan tari perang karena pada saat pelaksanaanya, ritual Kare-Kare menggunakan beberapa sarana yang mencerminkan adanya peperangan, seperti perisai yang terbuat dari anyaman rotan, dan senjata berupa seikat daun pandan berduri, sehingga ritual ini sering juga dikenal dengan istilah “perang pandan”. Saat ini Kare-Kare telah terdaftar sebagai warisan budaya tak benda Indonesia dengan nomor registrasi 201700554. |
