Description

This relic of the Old Hungarian Rovás writing is located in Énlaka, Transylvania.

  • The text reads:
    𐲎 𐲀𐲯 𐲐𐲤𐲦𐲉𐲙 𐲍𐲉𐲙𐲢𐲎𐲐𐲪𐲤 𐲘𐲪𐲤𐲙𐲀𐲐 𐲐𐲒𐲀𐲔𐲙
    "There is but one God. Georgius Musnai deacon."
  • The inscription is located on the ceiling of the local Unitarian church. The whole ceiling was produced in 1668, so this is the date for the text as well.
  • Notably not the oldest inscription, but artistic. There is also a Latin fragment: "Deut:vi".
