Bahasa Indonesia: Canang, Alat musik tradisional dari singkil yang terbuat dari kayu cuping-cuping berdiameter sekitar 2-3 cm, serta dipotong-potong hingga 40 cm, kemudian dibelah menjadi dua bagian, untuk mendapatkan nada yang harmonis dan berbeda satu dengan yang lain.
Dalam memainkan instrumen musik ini,ada dua cara. Pertama, menyusun canang di atas kotak kayu. Dua, ada pula dengan menjejarkannya secara berurutan di atas dua kaki yang diselonjorkan. Jumlah canang kayunya diatur sesuai dengan nada yang diinginkan, ada 3, 4, dan 5. Canang kayu yang telah disusun tadi, oleh pemain (canangger) dipukul dengan dua potong kayu menyerupai palu terbuat dari bahan kayu padat dan keras. Canang kayu ini, di Singkil lazim digunakan saat mengiringi pagelaran tari tradisional pada acara pesta atau perhelatan. |
