Gaeilge: Túr adhmaid ar mhóta nó tulach an chéad daingean a tógadh ag Bun Raite (1251). Ina dhiadh sin, thóg an Clárach caisleán cloiche (1277) agus thóg De Rokeby caisleán (1353). Ba iad na Brianaigh (1425) a thóg an caisleán atá ann anois, agus cuireadh cuid mhaith athruithe air sna 400 bliain a raibh sé dá áitiú. Nuair a bhí sé dá athchóiriú (1956/58) cuireadh deireadh le haon leasú ba deireannaí ná 1619 (dáta na síleála ornáidí sa séipéal) agus hatógadh cíor lámhaigh na 15ú aois. Rinneadh léigear anseo 1646 ar an aimiréal Penn, agus ceaptar go raibh a mac, William Penn, bunatheoir Pennsylvania, san chaisleán ina haíonán. Séadchomhartha Náisiúnta 478
English: A wooden tower on a moat or mound was the first
keep to be built at Dunboyne (1251). After this, De Clare built a stone castle (1277) and De Rokeby a castle (1353). It was the O'Briens (1425) who built the castle that is there now, and they made many changes over the 400 years that it was theirs. When it was being renovated (1956/58) a later amendment from 1619 was dispatched (the date of the ornate ceilings of the church) and the 15th century
crenelations were reconstructed. A siege took place in 1646 on Admiral Penn, and it is though that his son,
William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, was in the castle at the time.
