Description
English: Size comparison between a human female (lower right) and the extinct whale Basilosaurus.

Basilosaurus are often said to have measured about 18 meters (or 60 feet) long. [1] It should be noted that Basilosaurus, as shown here, consist two species, the smaller B. isis which is estimated to have measured 15-18 meters (the silouette in the image is based on the specimen CGM 42195, about 15 meters long) and the larger type species B. cetoides, about 17-20 meters long. [2]
