Summary

Description

Logo of Scythian Assianism (Russian: Ассианство, Assianstvo), known among the Ossetians as Uatsdin (Ossetian: Уацдин, lit. "True Faith"). Scythian folk religion was traditionally practised by the Ossetians and has been nationally revived since the 1980s. The religion has also been adopted by some among the Russians and Ukrainians as a pan-Indo-European faith. The symbol, called the "Three Tears of God", represents the theological trinity of Assianism: Xuytsau (Хуыцау)—"Heaven", Iuag (Иуаг)—"substance/matter", Ud (Уд)—"self"; or Uas (Уас)—"good-spell", Uastyrdzhi (Уастырджи)—"incarnated good-spell", and duagi (дуаги)—"deities". Ultimately it represents Indo-European theological trifunctionalism.

See pp. 328–329 of: Foltz, Richard (2019). "Scythian Neo-Paganism in the Caucasus: The Ossetian Uatsdin as a 'Nature Religion'". Journal for the Study of Religion, Nature, and Culture. 13 (3). pp. 314–332. doi:10.1558/jsrnc.39114.
