Description The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal Plant Health and Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services (WS) scientists and partners estimate the current population of invasive brown treesnakes on Guam is approximately 1-2 million. The snakes have caused the extinction of most of the island’s native wildlife; thousands of power outages; widespread loss of domestic birds and pets; and considerable emotional trauma to residents and visitors.
