English: TOURNAI - Building at N. 36 & N.37 quai Notre Dame. Facades and roofs.
Quai Notre-Dame offers a succession of Louis XIV style houses built between 1680 and 1685, during the rectification of the quays. Each one is characterized by an alternation between stone (at the level of the frames of the openings and the bands) and brick (for the sills, overmantels and entablatures) as well as by a very geometric aspect. The horizontality is underlined by bands that run along the entire façade and extend the lintels of the windows. The verticality is accentuated over the entire height of the facade by the window pedestals.. Except for the ground floor, which has modern openings, this house shows two levels of five wide bays on a fitted basement. These levels are lit by bossed bays, some of which are common to the openings of the neighbouring house. The tiled roof is open with two hipped dormers with scroll wings...
